Meals That Matter: Gaming Community, Real-World Impact
At SOTA, we believe the power of gaming goes far beyond the screen. This holiday season, we launched Meals That Matter, a campaign inviting our community to help us fund meals for families in need across the cities our board members call home.
Meals That Matter, Powered by Community
What started as a simple idea—gamers showing up for families—quickly turned into real impact. Together with our community, we raised close to $700. Every single gift, from small donations to larger contributions, was matched dollar for dollar by SOTA, doubling the support we could provide.
We originally set a $500 goal, but the response was so strong that we quickly found ourselves pushing past that mark. It was a reminder that when this community locks in on a cause, we tend to break the scoreboard.
Feeding Seven Families Across Our Cities
Because of the generosity from our comu, we were able to provide meals for seven different families:
3 families with 4 kids and 1 adult in each household
4 families made up of 4 people each
In total, that’s support for 31 individuals who were able to experience a little more comfort and security during a season that can be especially tough. These weren’t just grocery runs—they were moments of dignity, relief, and reminder that someone out there cares.
Thank You for Making Meals That Matter
To everyone who donated, shared the campaign, or helped spread the word: thank you. You turned a social campaign into real meals on real tables.
Meals That Matter is just one example of what this community can do when we combine our love for gaming with a commitment to serve others. We’re already thinking about how to level this initiative up next time—and we hope you’ll be right there with us.
Together, we’re proving that the esports community is built for more than highlights and trophies—it’s built for impact, one family at a time.
